Eagles are a majestic and powerful bird. The fact about eagles is, they are always fly alone. Because they are solitary, territorial birds of prey. They are not social birds unless they mate or teach their kids to fly or hunt. Eagles fly high up in the sky, scanning for food. An eagle can spot a rabbit in an open field nearly a mile away. When it’s time for them to learn to fly, the mother eagle will encourage their kids to leave the nest with “tough love.” She will nudge them out of the nests, and make the nests less comfortable by removing soft materials and exposing hard sticks. This forces them to learn how to fly. As they are venturing away from the nests, they develop better flight skills. They also start to challenge their parents for fish as their flying skills get better. And as they become young eagles, they start to rely less on their parents. The young eagles leave their familiar territory and begin to become independent foragers. A young eagle may spend up to 4 years alone, discovering its favorite winter and summer spots. They will also determine good hunting grounds and roosting spots. The faster their flying and hunting skills develop, the better chance they will have to survive alone in the wild. I’m here not to talk about all the facts about eagles, as I’m not a bird lover, more over an expert on birds. But, we can take so many lessons from the eagles.
- Eagles are known for their ability to soar high in the sky. They don’t fly at low altitudes and mix with other birds. They fly alone or with their own kind. What are the lessons we can learn? Surround and associate ourselves with people on the same level as us. With the right people. Whether in the terms of mindset, ambition, values or personal growth. It’s important because it will influence our motivation and progress. It pushes us to grow. By keeping the good company, we will be able to grow together. Stay away from narrow-minded people. Those who had a big gap in mindset or ambition. As it can create misunderstandings, envy, or even emotional drain. And in the end it will bring you down.
- Eagles also have an accurate and strong vision. They can spot their prey from miles away. They focus intensely on their prey until they grab it, no matter the obstacles. Meaning, own a strong vision, remain focused no matter the obstacles, don’t let the distractions turn us down. By then, finally we will succeed.
- Eagles don’t rush into things blindly. Before getting engaged with anything, eagles will test the commitment level. It symbolizes wisdom, patience, and discernment before making big decisions. In life, we should evaluate before committing, ensuring that weβre investing our time and energy in the right people and goals.
- Eagles love the storm. They don’t fear the storms and enjoy it a lot. When clouds gather, they get excited. And use the strong wind from the storms to lift itself higher, above the clouds. This gives the eagles an opportunity to glide and rest their wings. In the meantime, the other birds hide in the branches and wait until the storm passes. What are the lessons we can learn? Achievers are not afraid of challenges. Challenges in our life are not meant to break us, but an opportunity to use them profitably. Use them to soar us higher. Embrace challenges, because they can push us to new levels of success and personal growth. When we embrace challenges, we set ourselves apart from those who give up. Believe in ourselves, hard times will come, use it profitably, by then it will make you rise above.
- Eagles always prepare for training. The mother removed the soft material and changed it into hard sticks in their nest, so that the young ones get uncomfortable in preparation for flying and eventually fly when it becomes unbearable to stay in the nest. Meaning, People who genuinely care about us may seem harsh at times, but they really do have our best interest at heart because they want us to leave our comfort zone, as there is no growth if we stay stuck there. There is no need for us to clinging to the someone who is no longer serves us. Spread our wings and learn to fly! Leave our comfort zone.
- Eagles stop a while and prepare for changing to fly higher. When the Eagle grows old, his feathers become weak and can’t fly as fast and as high as it should. This makes him weak and could make him die. So he retired to a place far away in the mountains. While there, he plucks out the weak feathers on his body. He breaks his beaks and claws against the rocks. He continues this until he is completely bare. It is a very bloody and painful process. Then he stays in this hiding place until he has grown new feathers. He develops new beaks and claws. After he is renewed, he comes out flying higher than before. There are so many lessons we can learn from this process, right? Sometimes in life, we need to step back to move forward. When we feel weak, exhausted or stuck, it’s okay for us to pause a bit, reflect, and reset before taking a new challenge. Just like the eagle removes old feathers, letting go of the Old is necessary for our growth. We must let go of our negative habits, toxic relationships, and outdated mindset to grow stronger. Just like the eagles experience the very bloody and painful process to renew their feathers, growth often comes with discomfort and sacrifice. If we endure the hard phase, we emerge stronger and renewed. In life, great things take time. Just as the eagle waits for its new strength, we must be patient with our personal growth and trust the process. When we take time to heal and rebuild, we come back better, wiser, and more powerful than before.
Amazing isn’t it, the lesson that we can learn from eagles. I guess God indeed created all His creatures with purpose. Nothing is missing in His eyes. But to be a strong and powerful human being just like an eagle, we have to know that the main idea of eagles is that they are always fly alone. That’s why there is a very popular quote: “The Eagle flies Alone”. To be alone, we have to set boundaries. Know our worth, be consistent and follow through. Protect our energy. Don’t make it easy for someone who is not worth our time to enter and become part of our life. Just spare our time to someone worth our time. Someone who has the same mindset and goals as us. Don’t be afraid of being outnumbered. Maybe people will see us alone. But here’s the good thing, sometimes, alone doesn’t mean we are lonely. But it’s our effort to focus on our goals. To not let us fall into distractions which make our goals hard to reach. By then, we can spread our wings and fly higher. See you on top!

Kirana
