These poems were made right after we decided to tie the knot, and we promised each other we’d write a poem. We even sealed these poems into our wedding invitation (in Bahasa). It’s not really a common thing in Indonesia, but we’re pretty sure of it. We did it, anyway. You know exactly nothing can block the lovebirds from wanting something, right? Hope you think it’s romantic enough (Honestly, we really give it our best shot since we’re not a lovey-dovey couple). Which poem do you like more? Don’t worry, I’m totally fine with embarrassing myself.
I want to keep dancing in emotion and laughing with you….
Because the sparkle of your light dazzles the darkness of my heart
I want to weave you, always, like when everything was just pieces
Until everything became a palace that we built
I want to always be awake in my awareness of the rays of your beauty
I want to always be awake, in my desire for your endlessness
Because of you, because you are my universe…
(Kirana, May 2004)
You are no one, for you are the preparedness of my love.
Love that kneels under the enchantment of your love.
An enchantment that strips away the love that cowers in shame behind the cloak of my mind.
Love that is covered in eternity, cool as dew, frozen as ice, rumbling like a volcano, even hot as the sun.
Your love is water, air, fire, clouds, sky, stars, earth and my universe.
A universe of love that immortalizes the blanket of universal love and eternity of The Creator.
(Him, May 2004)
